Snow Patrol, Nick Cave, Simply Red And The Script Reach The U.K. Top 10 With New Albums – Forbes

Irish pop rock outfit The Script return to the summit of the U.K. albums ranking this week with their new studio effort Sunsets & Full Moons, which instantly becomes their fifth champion on the tally. Only one full-length from the group has missed landing at No. 1, and it peaked (frustratingly) at No. 2.

Behind The Script, four other new albums break into the top 10 on the U.K. albums chart in another busy week across the pond.

The second-highest-ranking debut of this frame comes from the powerful pairing of artists Michael Ball and Alfie Boe, who reach the top 10 once again, proving that the two may be more popular together than apart. As a duo, the vocalists have sent two collaborative full-lengths to No. 1 in the U.K., and while their latest effort Back Together didn’t rise all the way to the top, it is another big win for the two, as it kicks off at No. 2.

When considering their solo material as well, Ball has now appeared inside the top 10 10 times, while Boe has done so on eight occasions.

Fellow U.K.-based rock act Snow Patrol’s new release Reworked opens at No. 3, giving them another appearance in the region. The set features some of the group’s back catalog as well as a handful of new tracks, and clearly fans are interested in hearing some new takes on old favorites and what they’ve been working on lately. Reworked is the band’s seventh top 10 in the country.

Australian legends Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds jump into the highest tier with Ghosteen, their most recent collection of new material. The group released the album in October, at which point it debuted and peaked inside the top 20. Now that it has been widely distributed across platforms, the title rises to a new high point of No. 4, becoming the sixth top 10 for the act.

Hometown favorite Ed Sheeran sees his latest effort No.6 Collaborations Project fall to No. 5, pushed down by the slew of brand new releases.

British pop band Simply Red score their fourteenth top 10 in their home country with Blue Eyed Soul, which lands at No. 6 upon its arrival. The majority of the group’s releases have broken into the highest tier on the tally, and even though they first appeared in the area almost 35 years ago, they are still popular enough to push a title close to the top.

After reaching the summit last frame (due in part to a technicality), Jeff Lynne’s ELO’s From Out of Nowhere tumbles from No. 1 to No. 7, coming in ahead of Lewis Capaldi’s Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent. Back inside the top 10 once again is Tom Walker’s What a Time to Be Alive, which vaults from No. 67 to No. 9 after the release of a new deluxe edition. Rounding out the area is Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding at No. 10.
