Gatsby in Paris French Chansons & Jazz Standards from the 20s to the 40s Feat.Chlo Perrier & the French Heart Band – Club Bonafide
December 20, 2019 – New York
Gatsby in Paris: French Chansons & Jazz Standards From the ’20s to the ’40s, featuring enchanting French singer Chlo Perrier and her new band, the French Heart Jazz Band. This irrepressibly charming show is a mix of French chansons and American jazz standards from the ’20s to the ’40s with a continental flare. Chlo sings an intriguing mix of jazz, chanson, Brazilian and occasionally Romany-tinged numbers in French, as well as in English. The group is known for its reinvention of the old chestnut “My Heart Belongs to Daddy” as a bolero-tinged Twin Peaks theme, an obscure ’20s hot jazz tune that Perrier had found in a history book, and the classic “La Vie en Rose.” Come to Club Bonafide in New York City and listen as exes get dissed and relationships gone wrong are dissected and remembered through glasses that aren’t exactly rose-colored.

Above the Noise – Dixon Place
December 21, 2019 – New York
Daphne Gampel, Ryan DobrinAbove the Noise, an oratorio composed by Daphne Gampel, explores the experience of young adults questioning, reaffirming, discarding, and deepening their relationships with religion in an increasingly secular society. As we grow up, we often find ourselves in the uncomfortable position of questioning ideas and beliefs we’ve always held as true. Our world expands, and we are unsure how our familiar little corner of it fits into the larger tapestry. Updating traditional oratorio form through jazz-inflected, folk-pop-choral music, Gampel weaves interview-based narratives to create a shared space of stories and interconnected differences.

Live at the Fillmore – The Definitive Allman Brothers Tribute – Anthology
December 21, 2019 – Rochester
“LIVE AT THE FILLMORE is the continuation of my devotion to performing the music of the original Allman Brothers Band as it was performed in those early years before the untimely deaths of Duane and Berry Oakley and the departure of Dickey Betts. For me, those years were the ‘glory days’ of the Allman Brothers Band. Unlike others who believe the band was a jam band, I share the view of Gregg Allman, who has been quoted as recently as 2003 by fellow band member Butch Trucks in stating that rather than being a jam band The Allman Brothers are “a band that jams”.

December 21, 2019 – Port Chester
Even among the pantheon of music’s finest artists, Del McCoury stands alone. From the nascent sound of bluegrass that charmed hardscrabble hillbilly honkytonks, rural schoolhouse stages, and the crowning glory of the Grand Ole Opry to the present-day culture-buzz of viral videos and digital streams, Del is the living link. On primetime and late-night television talk shows, there is Del. From headlining sold-out concerts to music festivals of all genres, including one carrying his namesake, there is Del. Where audiences number in the tens of thousands, and admirers as diverse as country-rock icon Steve Earle and jam-band royalty Phish count as two among hundreds, there is Del.Emerging from humble beginnings in York County, PA nearly eighty years ago, Del was not the likeliest of candidates for legendary status. As a teen, he was captivated by the banjo playing of one of its masters, Earl Scruggs, and decided he’d be a banjo picker, too. The Baltimore/Washington, D.C. bar scene of the early 1960s was lively and rough. Del caught a break. More than a break, really. It was an opportunity of a lifetime; joining Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys in early 1963. Considered the Father of Blue… (read more)
