The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2020 lineup has been announced, meaning that the countdown to one of the biggest festivals ever has officially commenced. The lineup was showcased on Thursday night via the festival’s Twitter. The popular music festival, which is annually held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, will be taking place across two weekends: April 10-12th, and the 17th through the 19th. The festival is known for being filled with nonstop music, celebrities, and bold fashion statements. The first weekend is already sold out, and the Weekend two presale is expected to begin on Monday at 12 PM.
Rage Against the Machine (often referred to as RATM) are expected to kick off the weekend with performances on April 10th and the 17th. The rock band headlined the first annual Coachella music festival in 1999, and performed again 8 years later in 2007 after the rock group had seperated.
Travis Scott is scheduled to perform on the April 11th and the 18th. The rapper recently just released a compilation of tracks from his Cactus Jack collective titled JACKBOYS. The album features cameos from Young Thug, Don Toliver, and Lil Baby.
Frank Ocean is set to serenade festival attendees on Sunday, April 12th and 19th. The singer has resurfaced in the music industry in the last few months of 2019 first with the release of “DHL”, his first official musical release since 2018.
In addition to this year’s headliners, other names that were mentioned in the 2020 lineup includes Daniel Caesar, Calvin Harris, Charli XCX, and Lana Del Rey. This year’s lineup also features a ton of breakout stars who really made their mark in the music industry in 2019. Artists such as Lil Nas X, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, and Ari Lennox are expected to grace the stage at the critically acclaimed music festival as well.
The headliners for last year’s Coachella were Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover), Tame Impala, and Ariana Grande. It was estimated that there were around 500,000 people who attended the festival. A huge increase when thinking back to when the first Coachella music festival took place in 1999, with featured around only 10,000 people and was headlined by The Chemical Brothers, Beck, along with several others.
