The America’s Art Form series continues this month with the free concert “Vocal Colors and Songs with Heart,” presented by the Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Garland County Library, at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the library’s Gordonelle Williams Auditorium.

Vocalist Shirley Chauvin will demonstrate the “Vocal Colors” that are created by each individual vocalist.

“One of the beauties of singing is the uniqueness of each voice. Vocal jazz or jazz singing is an instrumental approach to the voice, where the singer can match the instruments in their stylistic approach to the lyrics, improvised or otherwise, or through scat singing; that is, the use of syllables to imitate the sound of instruments,” a news release said.

Chauvin will be joined by the America’s Art Form trio of Brandon Brockinton on drums, Joe Vick on bass and Clyde Pound on keyboard.

America’s Art Form is a free monthly concert series presented by the Hot Springs Jazz Society and the Garland County Library October through February with a special guest artist featured each month while focusing on a different style or detail of American born music.

The free concerts are presented from 6-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The final America’s Art Form concert in February will be “Techno Parade and Electric Circuit Party.” For more information, call 501-627-2425 or email [email protected]
