Zach Deputy: Sworn to Protect the Soul!
If your motto is “Sworn to protect the soul!”, you’d better be prepared to back it up. That is the daily mission for Zach Deputy, the looper par excellence from Bluffton, South Carolina (when he’s not out on the road). Deputy describes his music as “island-infused, drum ‘n’ bass, gospel-ninja-soul.” While he does play on occasion with a live band, most often Deputy IS the live band, a multi-instrumentalist whose infectious loops cause dance raves everywhere he goes.
Deputy has been at this for two decades, and those who know never tire of his performances, no two ever alike, weaving together various genres into one massive buffet of beautiful music. After New Year’s, he did a run of eight shows in the Southeast, including five in Florida.
This Saturday, Deputy will play Super Saturday at Bahia Mar on Fort Lauderdale Beach before Sunday’s Super Bowl in Miami. Then he’s hitting Colorado for six shows and eight more in California. Deputy then returns to headline the second annual VI Jam Fest on St. John in the Virgin Islands, one massively cool venue and event.
Upon return, he will work his way up through Florida and eventually into the Northeast with shows through the beginning of April before heading back to Florida for the second annual Suwannee Rising Music Festival at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. Last year’s inaugural event was spectacular, and this year promises to top it.
