“Ever since I first came to Texarkana in 2006, I’ve been involved in Black History Month celebrations,” Bougie said. “Soul music is a great mixture and blend of gospel, spiritual and classical music.”
Mary Scott Goode agreed.
“I love this gathering of people of all ages and all walks of life,” she said “We see great young musicians learning from more experienced musicians.”
In addition to Soul Fest, the Texarkana Pan Hellenic Council of Black Fraternities and Sororities will hold a forum starting at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in Texarkana College’s Levi Hall Conference Room.
The forum, which will be sponsored and presented by TC’s Cultural Awareness Student Association as well as TC’s Black Student Association, will focus on becoming a member of a national Greek organization.
A free soul food lunch will be served at the forum. For more information, call 903-823-3095.
