Telluride Jazz Festival Announces an Eclectic Lineup
The Telluride Jazz Festival will usher in its 44th year with an eclectic lineup that includes pop legends The Beach Boys and New Orleans icons The Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Also topping the bill will be the multi-cultural sounds of Bamako To Birmingham, a supergroup made up of Amadou & Mariam, an internationally acclaimed duo from Mali and the world-renowned, and Grammy award-winning gospel Blind Boys of Alabama, whose roots can be traced back to their founding in 1939.
To be held from August 7-9 in Telluride Town Park in bucolic Telluride, CO, the festival will also feature The Budos Band, The Hot Sardines, Poncho Sanchez, Marco Benevento, Catherine Russell, Allison Miller’s Boom Tic Boom, Christian Sands, The Harlem Gospel Travelers, Bonerama, The Crescent Super Band, The McCarthy Trio, The Telluride Student All-Stars Jazz Ensemble and more.
Just in case the daytime fare isn’t enough to satisfy your musical appetites, nighttime lights up with artists playing intimate venues around town as part of “Jazz After Dark.” Passes for the evening concerts are sold separately and can be purchased here. Of course, music isn’t the only attraction here. World-renowned for its natural beauty and breathtaking mountains, Telluride offers hiking, biking, horseback riding, historical walking tours and more. The town itself is picture-perfect where world-class restaurants, shopping, and galleries abound.
The festival is a family-friendly experience with a kids’ area which will once again feature Living Folklore and their troupe of stilt walkers and giant puppets, including one honoring the late Dr. John. The streets of Telluride will also come alive with and second lines and parades.
