WHAT: Summer picnic concert with Soul City

WHERE: Castle Hill on the Crane Estate, 290 Argilla Rd., Ipswich

WHEN: Thursday, Aug. 1, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. for picnicking

PRICE: Admission is at the gate only — $35 per car or $25 per car for Trustees members. Motorcycles and walk-ins are $10 for nonmembers and $8 for members.

INFORMATION: Weather cancellations, if necessary, will be announced by 3 p.m. concert day.

ABOUT SOUL CITY: Soul City, 10-piece band, will perform Motown, soul and funk music for Castle Hill’s family-friendly picnic concert.

The band has performed for 30 years.

FOOD AND DRINK: Attendees may bring a picnic supper or purchase seafood, roast beef, pizza, ice cream and other snacks from on-site vendors. Ipswich Ale, Mill River Winery and Far From the Tree Cider will sell beverages at a beer and wine garden.

Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

ADDITIONAL ATTRACTIONS: During the concert, attendees may visit the gardens; try a landscape-themed eye spy; or check out TunnelTeller, the interactive art installation by Alicja Kwade on the former site of the estate’s hedge maze.

NEXT CONCERT: Entrain, a rock-funk-jam band, will perform Aug. 8.
