All year long, the Des Moines Public Library has been spotlighting blues and jazz musicians as part of our CROSSROADS series. Earlier this summer, Rob Lumbard and Tina Haase Findlay kicked off the series, and since then, musicians such as Aaron Earl, Bob Pace, and Chad Elliott have taken the stage at different Des Moines Public Library.

On Saturday, local jazz legend Scott Davis will lead a sight and sound journey about the history and cultural impact of jazz and blues music.

Davis graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa and his master’s degree from Drake University. He taught in central Iowa for several years, both at Des Moines and Waukee schools, before taking up his current role as an instructor at DMACC. Davis is a member of the Des Moines Community Jazz Center Hall of Fame and the Iowa Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, and he’s best known for playing with the bands FreeStyle and the Scott Davis Jazz Quartet.

This free concert is presented by the Central Iowa Blues Society and Forest Avenue Library Brick Fund.
