For decades now, Slipknot has shown the world that they are one of the most popular names in hard rock with successful album after successful album, and their latest proves how much their massive fan base loves them once again.
We Are Not Your Kind debuted at No. 1 in a number of territories, including the U.S. and the U.K., and in the latter country, the rockers have managed something truly incredible on a genre-specific chart, something that few could come close to managing with a new release.
Every song featured on We Are Not Your Kind is now a top 40 hit on the Official Charts’ Rock and Metal Singles chart, which compiles and ranks the “UK’s biggest rock and metal songs of the week, based on sales of downloads, CDs, vinyl and other formats,” according to the organization.
It’s not rare for a group as popular as Slipknot to collect a handful of immediate successes on their respective genre-specific chart, but to turn every song featured on a new album into a top 40 hit is a fairly rare sight, and a truly impressive one.
14 songs from We Are Not Your Kind break into the top 40, and four of them enter the top 10 on the list. “Unsainted” almost returns to its No. 2 peak, missing the mark by one rung. Behind it, album tracks “Nero Forte” and “Critical Darling” start at Nos. 4 and 8, respetively, while fellow single “Birth of the Cruel” enters at No. 9.
Four other We Are Not Your Kind tunes are quick top 20 hits, while the rest rank above No. 40 (if only barely, as “Not Long for This World” lands at No. 39).
