BTS‘ latest album Map of the Soul: Persona has already made history as the best-selling Korean album of all time, and now it’s gone gold in the U.S.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced a series of new recongitions on Thursday, and BTS’ album was included in the rankings, certified as going gold with half a million units registered.
As per RIAA standards, one equivalent album unit is equal to one album sale, 10 tracks sold from an album, or 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from an album.
Map of the Soul: Persona is the second album by BTS to be recognized by the RIAA, following last year’s Love Yourself: Answer, which was certified gold in November. Answer was the first Korean album to ever go gold.
Map of the Soul: Persona was released on April 12, and is fronted by the single “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey. That song was certified platinum in June, and is one of five BTS songs certified either gold or platinum by the RIAA, along with “Mic Drop,” “DNA,” “Fake Love” and “Idol.”
