Silver Spring Jazz Festival — Saturday — Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring
The 16th annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival is on Saturday in Veterans Plaza near the Silver Spring Civic Building. Grammy and Emmy award winner Arturo Sandoval will headline the event, which will also feature performances by Marcus Johnson, Lena Seikaly and the Eric Byrd Trio.
The festival is free. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Two stages will have live entertainment from 3 to 10 p.m.
Community Open House – Saturday – Round House Theatre
Round House Theatre in Bethesda will unveil its remodeled facilities on Saturday after seven months of renovations.
Patrons can enjoy a performance, sample food from the updated café area and attend workshops led by Round House teaching artists. The event will also include a look at the upcoming production of “School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play.”
The open house is from noon to 6 p.m. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. The event is free to attend.

Stand-Up Silver Spring – Saturday – Cissel-Saxon American Legion Post 41
The last show of the summer at Post 41 in Silver Spring will be headlined by Sara Armour, who has appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” Loy Lee, D Lo, and Maddox Pennington are also part of the lineup Saturday night.
There is a show at 8 p.m. and another at 10 p.m. Tickets range from $16 to $25 and are available here.
