ROCK — The fifth annual Gazebo Concert Series is set in Rock. Scheduled for Wednesday evenings, the concerts will begin July 10 with the Triple Shot Band and run through Aug. 14. Music begins at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s schedule features local bands, as well as well-known regional bands. The concert series has been a community event since it began with Rock’s 150th Sesquicentennial Celebration. Families and friends bring their chairs and gather around the gazebo each week to listen to music and visit.
This year’s schedule is: July 10 – Triple Shot, July 17 – Angels and Outlaws, July 24 – Cory, Chasey and Brendan Williams, July 31 – Johnson Family Bluegrass, Aug. 7 – Sit Down Francis and finishing out the season with a picnic dinner and street dance will be Bear Walkers.
“We are so pleased to be able to continue to offer this event. It has proven to be a real community event and in a small community like Rock, that’s important.” said Mollie Larsen, one of the organizing committee members. “This year we have again changed our line up a bit, keeping some of the old favorites and bringing in some new bands allowing for a lot of diversity in style.”
A 50/50 raffle will be held to help support the concert series. Major support for the series also comes from an arts grant from the state of Michigan, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and re-granted as a mini-grant through CUPPAD, and from the Friends of Rock Sesquicentennial Fund.
