Ready for some blues?
Then head out to the Memorial Park Pavilion on Sunday for the annual Blue Sunday event hosted by the MO Blues Association. This free, family-friendly event includes blues music, food, a raffle and a 50/50 drawing.
Becky Fredickson, secretary for the association, said in an email the event is mainly a fundraiser to benefit the association’s Blues in the Schools program. The program brings in professional educators who are also blues musicians to local schools to teach about the genre of music and its history.
Donations will be collected throughout the event, which is set for 1-4 p.m. Sunday, in order to support the program.
“Help us bring the history and awareness of this truly American form of music to our kids,” Fredickson said.
The event will include performances by the MO Blues Allstars (from 1-2 p.m.), the Cooper’s Landing Jam Band (from 2-3 p.m.) and Buddha Blue (from 3-4 p.m.).
