GALESBURG — Make plans to attend the Carl Sandburg Songbag Concert Series performance by blues/jazz musicians Sally Weisenburg and Don Berbaum at the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site in Galesburg on Sunday, Oct.13.
A team both personally and musically since the mid-1970s, Weisenburg and Berbaum perform music from many different styles, but the blues has always been at the heart of their music. Sally’s vocals are always the focal point of their performances, while Don’s playing on the guitar and harmonica provide inspirational coloring for her vocals. Sally also plays the keyboard.
Sunday’s Songbag performance by Weisenburg and Berbaum will be in the Sandburg site’s barn at 313 E. Third St. The show starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m., with a break for refreshments around 5 p.m. A donation of $5 per person is suggested.
The final 2019 Songbag concert of the season will be Sunday, Nov. 10, featuring Jera Faraipanahi Scott and Carol Jean Trulson on acoustic guitar and keyboard.
Carl Sandburg was a collector and performer of America’s folk songs. The concert series is named in honor of Sandburg’s book “The American Songbag” published in 1927. The Carl Sandburg State Historic Site includes the home where the famed poet and biographer was born. For more information, visit www.sandburg.org.
