It’s a complicated story, but we’ll try our best to explain it.
Last year, concert promoter Danny Wimmer announced that after an eight-year run in Charlotte, the three-day rock festival, Carolina Rebellion, would be no more. To try to fill the void, Wimmer created a new event, Epicenter, but moved it to Rockingham, North Carolina.
The event was held in May and was plagued with traffic issues and bad weather.

On Thursday, Wimmer announced Epicenter would be moving to Charlotte in 2020.
The festival is scheduled to take place May 1-3 at Rock City Campgrounds, which is located across from Charlotte Motor Speedway and is also the former site for Rebellion.

Metallica will headline the event, playing two nights. The band will play different sets Friday and Sunday.
The complete festival lineup will be announced at a later date.
Tickets are on sale now for fan club members and for anyone who has purchased tickets to a Danny Wimmer Presents event in the past. Tickets for the general public go on sale Oct. 14 at noon.
