The legendary Detroit house producer came up with the idea for Soul Skate in 2007 and now throws the party—which acts as a national meet-up for skate dancers—with the help of a team of 14 every two years. Lineups and venues for the 2020 edition have yet to be announced.
Leading up to next May, the Soul Skate team will bring their signature event to London and Berlin. A sold out London Soul Skate goes down this Sunday at Roller Nation with New York’s DJ D and Dom Diego. Next weekend, Soul Skate makes its Berlin debut at Supermarkt. DJ D will spin at the afternoon-into-evening skate jam, as will Berlin’s Rollers HiFi. Following that, Moodymann himself will take the decks at the Prince Charles afterparty, with support from Flo Real and Peter Adarkwah (cofounder of the rare groove label BBE).
