Bassist Richard Simon, the guest of honor of the 2019 Roswell Jazz Festival, says he will plant his extraterrestrial miniature bass and wait until it grows into a full-size bass cello. He also carries the plaque he was given by festival organizers, which was in addition to the key to the city Mayor Dennis Kintigh presented to him Friday when festival musicians performed at the Chaves County Courthouse.
