Oritse Williams brands rape trial ‘three years of hell’ as he pours soul into new music – Mirror.co.uk

Oritse Williams has announced he’s set to release an album as a solo artist which relates to his “three years of hell” following his recent rape trial.

The singer’s life was torn apart when he was accused of attacking a JLS fan, but was found not guilty earlier this year.

Now a solo artist, he’s unveiled there will be new music coming soon – and it relates to the tragedy he faced, with “deep” lyrics about his experiences.

Speaking to Mirror Online at the Ethnicity Awards, he confessed the traumatic ordeal has made him pour out his emotions in writing and making music.

He said: “The music that I’ve made tells quite a story, I’ve made this music in the hardest time of my life – this is new music.

“My music’s about my life and my experiences over the last few years, so you know, whatever that entails.

“It’s very emotional, I put my soul into it you know, I put my heart and my soul into it.”

The whole period lasted for three years in total, which started in December 2016.

He was arrested on suspicion of attacking a fan at a Wolverhampton hotel – but the trial ran in May earlier this year, and saw Oritse cleared of rape.

And in that time, the 32-year-old told us he’s been focusing solely on music, spending time in the studio every day and every night.

Oritse has ventured out as a solo artist since JLS split, and has a brand new upcoming album that he’s been working on.

“I’ve just been focusing on music for the last few years, I’ve been you know, writing and working away.

“I’m working very hard and just kind of, I dunno, just kind of reconnecting as a song writer and reconnecting as a musician in my own right.

“And you know, kind of studying the musicians that I grew up listening to like Marvin Gaye and others like that, Stevie Wonder.

However the Everybody In Love hit maker has said there isn’t a release date as of yet.

“We don’t know yet, it’s gonna come out when it feels right.

“I’m my own worst critic, and I’ve got own management team. They want it to be right for me so, when it feels right.”

Back in June, the star was hit by a fresh tragedy after his £3million Surrey mansion was destroyed in a fire – and police have recently stopped investigation as there are no suspects.

When asked if he thinks he’ll find out who did it, he said: “It’s not my house, I made a lot of music there before I left, I made so much music there.

“So you know it literally, all I did was live in the studio.”

He’s shushed any speculation of a JLS reunion for now, but hinted there could be something later in the future.

Oritse told us: “Right now I’m just doing my own music,” and moved on to talk about wanting his pals from the boy band to hear his new songs first.

“The boys have been very supportive in wanting to hear my music.

“Marvin who’s here tonight, he messaged me yesterday and he said: ‘Oritse your albums gonna be insane I can’t wait for it’.

“He said to me, ‘I wanna hear your music, I wanna hear your songs’, so we’re gonna sit down at some point and I’m gonna play him my songs. I want my boys to hear the music first.”

Oritse did confirm that the JLS boys are very much still in contact, admitting they speak regularly and have a WhatsApp group chat.

When asked if his new tracks will be the same style as old JLS hits were, he said it’s very different.

Oritse shared: “No definitely not, it’s very personal, it’s very deep, it’s – how can I say, it’s very intimate music, it’s very in depth.

“I can’t say anymore than that, it’s me – it’s just me in my truest, most honest, most purest form you know, it’s just me.”
