Jennifer Hudson was totally transformed into Aretha Franklin as filming kicked off on the biopic.

Jennifer will play the ‘Queen of Soul’ herself in the new movie opposite Marlon Wayans, who was also on set.

The singer was spotted inside an old-fashioned car on location in Manhattan’s Harlem neighbourhood.

Marlon was on set in character as Aretha’s husband Ted White in full costume, wearing a trilby hat and a brown coat.

Jennifer’s costume, a knee length coat and mini dress, made her look very 60s.

The Voice UK judge sported a voluminous beehive hairstyle and big earrings as she filmed the scenes, which appeared to be pretty emotional.

After talking for a while, Aretha and Ted share a quick kiss in the car.

The cameras also rolled as Marlon’s character spoke to some other people in the street, apparently collecting money from some prostitutes.

Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson is seen for the first time portraying "The Queen of Soul" Aretha Franklin as filming begins on the upcoming biopic titled "RESPECT" on location in Manhattan's Harlem Neighborhood. Jennifer was spotted filming with costar Marlon Wayans who will be playing her onscreen husband "Ted While". The scene took place in 1966 where Marlon is seen talking and collecting money from prostitutes while Jennifer looks on from a car, while later they both share a passionate kiss. 03 Nov 2019 Pictured: Jennifer Hudson. It won’t be the first time the Dreamgirls star has sung the late star’s hits, having previously performed tributes to her at the 2011 Grammy Awards and the BET Awards in 2014.
