Ahead Of Their New Single Release, BTS’s Albums Surge On Several Billboard Charts – Forbes

In just a few days, BTS will officially launch their new single “Dynamite,” which appears to kick off the next era of their time together, though they haven’t yet shared details regarding a new album. In anticipation of this forthcoming drop, fans have rushed to consume their older efforts, and many of the the band’s full-lengths gain ground on a number of album-only Billboard charts.

Here’s a look at how BTS’s albums perform on the charts this week.

Billboard 200

On this week’s Billboard 200, the ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. every frame, BTS occupy three spots, which is fairly typical for the biggest name in K-pop. The group’s highest-charting effort this time around is Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey, their latest Japanese full-length. The set returns to the tally at an impressive new height of No. 14. That’s far, far better than its No. 115 starting point.

Further down the list, their recent Korean project Map of the Soul: 7 lifts just one rung to No. 63, while Love Yourself: Answer improves from No. 164 to No. 151.

Top Album Sales

While the Top Album Sales chart might feature half as many spots as the Billboard 200, BTS actually claim more rungs on the shorter ranking than on the much longer one. The South Korean superstars see five releases take up space on the list this time around, with three of them living inside the top 40.

Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey reaches a new peak position of No. 4, granting the band another top 10 on the chart. Not far behind that release comes Map of the Soul: 7 at No. 12 (up from No. 13) and Map of the Soul: Persona at No. 32 (up from No. 33).

Outside the top 40, BTS’s older effort Love Yourself: Answer steps up from No. 52 to No. 47 while Love Yourself: Tear pushes from No. 85 to No. 79.

World Albums

BTS rule the World Albums chart like no other, but this frame, more of their sets fall slightly than gain ground, but there’s a simple explanation for that: there isn’t a lot of space for them to climb.

As their Japanese project Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey vaults from outside the top 10 to No. 1 (becoming their tenth leader on the tally in the process), the next six titles are all pushed down slightly, including three of their own sets, Map of the Soul: 7, Love Yourself: Answer and Map of the Soul: Persona, which land at Nos. 3, 4 and 6, respectively.

After Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey, the second-highest-ranking full-length of any kind that improves instead of declining is another BTS release, Love Yourself: Tear, and it moves from No. 9 to No. 8. A few spots below that success comes Love Yourself: Her, which flies from No. 15 to No. 12.

Only BTS World, their soundtrack that accompanied their mobile game of the same name, dips, and it only falls one spot (from No. 14 to No. 15) as it celebrates one year on the World Albums chart.
