An album to benefit the Vermont Foodbank comes out Monday, featuring songs from Vermont musicians including Paul Asbell, The Bubs, Patti Casey and Bow Thayer.

“Music to Feed the Soul” is available for digital download via the online music company Bandcamp. Proceeds from the album will go the Vermont Foodbank, which has locations in Barre, Rutland and Brattleboro and serves all 14 counties in Vermont. The effort to compile the album was led by Jim Heltz, founding member of Transitory Symphony, one of the bands that contributes to “Music to Feed the Soul.”

A news release emailed by the band to the Burlington Free Press describes the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the Vermont Foodbank. The organization distributed an extra 370,000 pounds of food to meet the increased need caused by the pandemic and resulting economic difficulties. The Foodbank was on track in April to distribute 1.6 million pounds of food – a 78-percent increase over normal.

Other acts whose songs can be found on “Music to Feed the Soul” include Blue Button, Danny Ricky Cole, Emma Cook & Questionable Company, Cole Davidson, Amber deLaurentis, Dino Bravo, Eastern Mountain Time, Elephants of Scotland, Expected Guest, Damascus Kafumbe and Spencer Lewis.

Also on the album are Ivamae & Dan Bishop, Me & My Friend Ben, Frank Mills, Rik Palieri, Plastique Mammals, Strangled Darlings, Thea Wren, The Rough Suspects, Va-et-Vient, Whetstone Wailers, Wilverine and Yestrogen.
