Considered one of the most influential trumpeters of our time, Shunzo Ohno has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, and many others. Born in Gifu, Japan, Shunzo began his musical passion at age 13 in his local public school. By age 19, Shunzo was the leading jazz trumpeter in Japan. Working as a composer and arranger, Shunzo’s career hit high gear when he met renowned bandleader Art Blakey. He toured with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, throughout the United States and settled in New York City in 1974 at Blakey’s suggestion. Mr. Ohno has 16 recordings under his name as a leader and has appeared on over thirty more as a sideman. His fascinating life, with his triumph over illness and adversity, is the subject of a biography, “Trumpet of Hope” and a documentary film, “Trumpet of Glory.” His 2018 release “Dreamer” has brought international attention

A protg of the legendary jazz master Dizzy Gillespie, ARTURO SANDOVAL was born in Artemisa, a small town in the outskirts of Havana, Cuba, on November 6, 1949, just two years after Gillespie became the first musician to bring Latin influences into American Jazz. Sandoval began studying classical trumpet at the age of twelve, but it didn’t take him long to catch the excitement of the jazz world. He has since evolved into one of the world’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist and composer. He is one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, and has been seen by millions at the Oscars, at the Grammy Awards, and the Billboard Awards. After a decade working in a local guitar shop, Mike learned his craft from the ground up playing in clubs 7 nights a week. He fell in love with the Blues of St. Louis and the stories of the country singers. His first self released album “Blue Room” hit the streets in 1998 and he has made 12 albums total over the years. He signed and recorded with Eclecto Groove Records and Ruf Records. He is a founding member of the supergroup “Royal Southern Brotherhood” with Cyril Neville and Devon Allman. In 2012 he formed his own group, The Wheel. Mike has produced albums for Samantha Fish, Laurence Jones, Albert Castiglia and others. He tours extensively in the USA, Canada and Europe. He has been honored with multiple Blues Music Awards over the past 10 years. His love of life and pursuit of happiness is felt in every note he sings and plays.

Charlie Romo is a native New Yorker and grew up in a community and family with strong character which has reinforced in him a style that has served him well on stage. Inspired by his favorite interpreters of classic American popular songs (Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Vic Damone, Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Bubl, etc.), Romo has developed an avid passion for, and a unique interpretation of recognizable standards of jazz and the Great American Songbook. His goal is to “carry the torch” by reviving the music and style of previous eras in a dynamic and refreshing way. Romo has made a name for himself in the jazz/cabaret circuit by working with top-notch musicians, and from his award-winning performances. He often performs in major cities around the country, including New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Orlando. Last December, Romo made his Lincoln Center debut.

Renee Rosnes is one of the premier jazz pianists and composers of her generation. Upon moving to New York City from Vancouver, she quickly established a reputation of high regard, touring and recording with such masters as Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, Bobby Hutcherson, J.J. Johnson, James Moody, and legendary bassist Ron Carter. She was a charter member of the all-star ensemble, the SFJAZZ Collective, with whom she toured for six years. As a leader, Ms. Rosnes has released 17 acclaimed recordings. Renee has produced concerts at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Renee is also the music director for ARTEMIS, a new international all-star band featuring the vocalist Ccile McLorin Salvant, clarinetist Anat Cohen, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, bassist Noriko Ueda and drummer Allison Miller. Rosnes is married to jazz pianist Bill Charlap, and the two often perform in a two-piano setting.

John will be performing his catalogue of hits from his 40 year career as a solo artist, with The Baby’s and Bad English. John Waite’s catalogue of hits features some of the most loved songs of the 80s and 90s the #1 Worldwide hit ‘Missing You’, The Baby’s ‘Isn’t It Time’ and Bad English ‘When I See You Smile’ rank amongst some of his biggest international hits and are still heard on radio today. Others include ‘Tears’, ‘Change’ and ‘These Times Are Hard For Lovers’. ‘Every Step Of The Way’ and ‘If Anybody Had A Heart’ appeared on the soundtrack to the 1986 Demi Moore film About Last Night. ‘Deal for Life’, penned by Martin Page and Bernie Taupin, was featured in the Days Of Thunder soundtrack. As a solo artist and as the lead singer of The Baby’s and Bad English, John Waite was a fixture of album-oriented rock radio stations during the ’70s and ’80s. John Waite had a talent for power ballads and driving arena rock, occasionally touching on new wave-styled power pop as well.

These and other Gallic icons are the focus of From Paris With Love, a musical homage to the City of Lights from the duo Yael & Gabriel. Yael Dray-Barel is a French/Israeli singer/songwriter influenced by rock and gypsy jazz, and her songs often incorporate the five languages she speaks. Argentinian guitarist Gabriel Hermida infuses his compositions with the essence of classical tango, flamenco and contemporary jazz. Together, the pair will salute such timeless French songs as “La Vie en Rose,” “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien” and “Hymne a L’Amour, along with work from Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, at Club Bonafide in New York City

With the release of his debut recording CROSSING on Nineteen-Eight Records, he has come into his own light as a leader and composer of note. Equally skilled on oboe, english horn, flutes, clarinets and saxophones, his wide range of skills and prowess as an improviser quickly garnered high demand as a sideman. He has performed and recorded with, among many others, Michael Brecker, David Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, Toots Thielemans, Michel LeGrand, Tim Garland, Joe Locke and David Taylor; with superstars Patti Austin, Deborah Gibson, Hugh Jackman and Liza Minelli.
