He earned his status as a master guitarist and soul-powered vocalist through years of paying his dues as a sideman with Collins (first as a drummer) and then with John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, before launching his solo career in 1993. Through October 31, 2019 – New York
The Tubes are a San Francisco-based rock band that used a mix of progressive rock theater, multimedia, and scathing social criticism of America’s television culture. The original line up consisted of Fee Waybil (Vocals), Rick Anderson (Bass), Prairie Prince (Drums), Roger Steen (Guitar and Vocals), Vince Welnick (Keyboards), and Michael Cotten (Synthesizer). Their live performances were surreal vaudeville shows in which songs became full fledged production numbers. The Tubes scored their first hit “White Punks on Dope” on their self-titled debut album released on A&M records. Their second album, “Young And Rich”, included their second hit single – the suggestive duet “Don’t Touch Me There”. The Tubes released three more albums on A&M before being dropped in 1982. Capitol Records signed the Tubes upon their release from A&M and the Tubes released their most successful album to date, the concept album “The Completion Backward Principle”. “The Completion Backward Principle” contained the hits, “Don’t Want To Wait Anymore”, “Sushi Girl” and the classic rock staple “Talk To You Later”. Chelsea Wolfe American Darkness Tour 2019 – Brooklyn Steel
November 01, 2019 – Brooklyn
Ages: 16 & Over Chelsea Wolfe has always been a conduit for a powerful energy, and while she has demonstrated a capacity to channel that somber beauty into a variety of forms, her gift as a songwriter is never more apparent than when she strips her songs down to a few key components. As a result, her solemn majesty and ominous elegance are more potent than ever on Birth of Violence. There is a core element to Chelsea Wolfe’s music—a kind of urgent spin on America’s desolation blues—that’s existed throughout the entirety of her career. It manifested in the lo-fi bedroom recording experiments of her debut album The Grime and the Glow (2010), the electrified dirges of Apokalypsis (2011) and Hiss Spun (2017), the electronic embellishments and distorted growl of albums like Pain is Beauty (2013) and Abyss (2015), and the sparse acoustic arrangements of Unknown Rooms (2012). At the center, there has always been Wolfe’s woeful longing and beguiling gravity, though the framework for compositions has continuously evolved based on whatever resources were available. Her austere beginnings were gradually bolstered by electronics and filled out with full-band arrangements. The music became in… (read more)

Kishi Bashi – Brooklyn Steel
November 02, 2019 – Brooklyn
Ages: 16 & Over Imagine being forced from your home. Imagine being sent to a prison camp with no trial, and no promise of release. Imagine all this happened simply because of the language you speak, the shade of your skin, or the roots of your family tree. For over 120,000 Japanese-Americans this was a reality during World War II. It’s a reality that Kishi Bashi seeks to reckon with on his latest release Omoiyari. Omoiyari is Kishi Bashi’s fourth album — following the acclaimed 151a (2012), Lighght (2014), and Sonderlust (2016), which have garnered serious acclaim from outlets including NPR Music, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian — and his most important yet. Many of the songs were initially inspired by history and oppression, and he deftly weaves tales of love, loss, and wanting to connect listeners to the past. Channeling the hard-learned lessons of history, Omoiyari is an uncompromising musical statement on the turbulent sociopolitical atmosphere of present-day America. “I was shocked when I saw white supremacy really starting to show its teeth again in America,” Kishi Bashi says. “My parents are immigrants, they came to the United States from Japan post–World War … (read more)
