“In consideration of how impossible implementing social distancing guidance would be at this event, we really don’t have a choice.”
STRATFORD, CT — A popular event that has become a rite of summer in Stratford is the latest to be canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Blues on the Beach, the annual music festival held at Short Beach, which was planned for July 25, will not take place this year out of an abundance of caution amid the continuing public health emergency.
“Blues on the Beach is a terrific summer event that we all look forward to, and it is hard to think of summer without it now,” Mayor Laura Hoydick said in a town news release. “However, we need to continue exercising caution. In consideration of how impossible implementing social distancing guidance would be at this event, we really don’t have a choice.”
Sponsored by the Jackson Law Group and Connecticut Distributors Inc., Blues on the Beach is part of the Celebrate Stratford Festival series, and is coordinated by volunteer Erin McLaughlin. Past performers have included acts such as Funky Dawgz, Chris D’Amato, Alpaca Gnomes, and Evan Goodrow and Da Band.
