As of Friday morning, the Brandon Jazz Festival scheduled for this week has been cancelled due to the increasing threat of spreading the COVID-19 virus.
Festival Director, Brent Campbell says as disappointing as it is, it’s the right thing to do.
“With the rapidly changing situation with the coronavirus, we took into account the health and well-being of the students and the teachers as our main consideration.”
“The festival brings thousands of students together and puts them in close proximity in the concerts and the performances handling the same equipment, microphones and keyboards.”
“We just didn’t want to take the chance and be a conduit for the spread of the virus.”
The Brandon Jazz Festival will be cancelled for this year but will be returning in March of 2021.
