Just one week into 2020 (or seven days, said another way), BTS has shaken their fan base and announced what will probably be another massive title for the group. The seven-member vocal act took to Twitter just a few minutes ago to tweet one number, but that was all most fans needed to start freaking out.
“7” the tweet says, and it’s clear what that means.
Big Hit, the company behind the ultra-successful septet, cleared things up a bit more and added one very important detail that fans have been waiting patiently for. BTS’s new album will be called Map of the Soul: 7, and it’s coming very soon.
The set is currently slated to drop on February 21, which gives die-hard ARMYs just over a month to prepare for what the singers and dancers have cooked up this time around.
After just 22 minutes, BTS’s semi-cryptic “7” tweet had already garnered over 460,000 likes, had been retweeted 217,000 times and had thousands of comments from thrilled fans who now have countdowns started.
As is typically the case when it comes to BTS, chances are they won’t release anything beforehand, as is customary when it comes to K-pop releases. Many Western acts preview full-lengths with singles, but the Korean powerhouses tend to unleash everything at the same time.
7 is the second in the Map of the Soul series, and it follows 2019’s Map of the Soul: Persona. The title debuted at No. 1 in a number of countries, including the U.S., where it became their third champion, and the U.K., where it ended up as their first. In South Korea, the set went on to become not only another leader for the band, but the bestselling title of all time in just one month.
