The devil works hard, but BTS works harder when it comes to teasing their new album and music. As the end of 2019 vastly approaches, the new year in 2020 has ARMY waiting for more news in regards to BTS’s highly-anticipated comeback. And recently, the seven members — including RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — have been strongly hinting that the next BTS album — rumored to be titled Map of the Soul: Shadow — is coming out soon.
Jimin gushes over BTS’s new album at MAMA 2019 on Dec. 4
At the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA 2019) on Dec. 4, BTS swept the award show with all the daesangs, including Album of the Year. Late-night talk show host, Jimmy Fallon, announced the South Korean band as the winner. And the septet humbly accepted the award on the MAMA 2019 stage.
Now, if that wasn’t enough to get fans excited, Jimin also had a few words about the group’s new music during his acceptance speech for Album of the Year. And quite frankly, his confidence in BTS’s next album comeback is enough to make anyone happy, even on the cloudiest of days.
The “Serendipity” singer kicked off his remarks by thanking Fallon for his pre-recorded clip. Then per Soompi, Jimin opened up about the next BTS album, ensuring fans it has his stamp of approval.
“We’re working on our next album now, and I think we’ll be able to put out an even better album than you’re expecting,” Jimin said. “Please look forward to it a lot. Thank you.”
BTS discusses new music at the 2019 KIIS FM Jingle Ball on Dec. 6
Two days after BTS’s “Daesang All Kill” at MAMA, the septet arrived at iHeartRadio’s 102.7 KIIS FM’s 2019 Jingle Ball on Dec. 6. The group performed “MIC Drop,” “Make It Right,” and “Boy With Luv.” And despite their short set, BTS promised ARMY there will be plenty to look forward to in the new year.
“In 2019, we had so many wrong things, so many not good things, bad things,” RM told the sea of purple in Los Angeles. “But in 2020, we’re gonna make it right together.”
Meanwhile, when speaking with KIIS FM backstage at Jingle Ball, BTS told fans they can look forward to their next album and new music.
“Okay, now this question happened,” RM said, chuckling after host JoJo Wright asked what’s on the horizon for BTS. “It’s been a while since we released our album. So maybe new music and the new album will be next.”
And much to the delight of ARMY, Wright then probed a little more. “Have you started recording yet?” he asked.
RM nodded and let out another laugh. “Yeah, we did,” he said.
Still speaking with KIIS FM, RM also hinted that the group wants to visit other areas in the U.S. — outside of where they’ve traveled to before. But whether or not that means a BTS 2020 tour in the future is debatable, and ARMY will just have to wait and see what Big Hit Entertainment says moving forward.
“I think we visit America the most in a year. So maybe next year … we can go to other states,” RM said before listing off a few states — including Oregon, Seattle, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Texas.
BTS says they’re working on their new album for 2020 at Variety’s Hitmakers brunch on Dec. 7
Merely one day after the 2019 Jingle Ball concert, BTS accepted Variety’s Group of the Year award at the publication’s Hitmakers brunch. And RM gave a heartfelt speech to express the band’s gratitude.
“We’re not very used to this kind of event, I’m very nervous, but I’m going to take it easy,” RM said. He thanked Variety’s editors, the Big Hit Entertainment staff, and of course, ARMY for sending them “the greatest love and support.” The 25-year-old also noted that music has the “power to overcome various kinds of barriers” like language and nationality.
RM then wrapped his speech by revealing some fantastic news about BTS’s new album and music.
“The good news is that we’re currently working on our new music and our new album,” he said with a smile. “We can’t wait to share them with you guys in the near future. I hope you guys are also excited to discover what BTS has got for 2020. Thank you very much.”
ARMY reacts to BTS’s comeback album news
Following the beautiful storm of news about BTS’s next comeback album, ARMY revealed their thoughts on social media. And to no one’s surprise, everyone seems excited.
“So the album is already recorded and ready to go?!” one fan wrote on Reddit in response to the KIIS FM interview. “Brace yourself comeback is near!”
“Joon talking about how music transcends barriers and plugging the upcoming album,” a fan wrote on Twitter about RM’s Hitmakers speech. “Telling everyone he’s excited for them to see what @BTS_twt has to offer in 2020!!! Aaahh the way they keep excitedly bringing up the new album!!”
ARMY was also quick to notice when Big Hit’s official Twitter account re-posted RM’s speech about BTS’s new album.
A fan tweeted: “WHAT IS BIGHIT DOING BY REPOSTING ARTICLES TALKING ABOUT HOW BTS SAID NEW MUSIC IS COMING WHEN BIGHIT ITSELF IS THE ONE TO DECIDE WHEN IS THE COMEBACK?”
Regardless of what happens in the final weeks of 2019, it’s clear 2020 will open doors for BTS’s new music. So brace yourselves, ARMY. And don’t forget to schedule your alarms for midnight KST. Comeback season is finally here. Are you ready?
