At the Feb. 15 Blues concert in Mason — featuring 11 acts across two stages — the Cincy Blues Society will unveil the lineup for this summer’s Cincy Blues Fest
Danielle NicolePhoto: daniellenicolemusic.comOn Saturday, Feb. 15, the Cincy Blues Society will reveal the lineup for this summer’s Cincy Blues Fest.
The organization will announce the roster for the long-running local event at the Cincy Winter Blues Experience at the Manor House, a “‘plantation style’ special event estate” in Mason, Ohio.
Feb. 15’s Cincy Winter Blues Experience is loaded with acclaimed Blues acts from Cincinnati and across the region. It also features some top-notch headliners and a tribute to a Blues Rock icon.
Topping the lineup is Kansas City, Missouri Blues/Roots/Soul artist Danielle Nicole, who is signed to the huge label Concord Records and has won numerous awards for her work. Her latest album, 2018’s Cry No More, nabbed several Independent Blues Awards and also scored Nicole her first Grammy nomination (for Contemporary Blues Album)
Also coming in from out of town for the Winter Blues event is Stacy Mitchhart, who grew up in Cincinnati and spent time playing music on the East and West coasts before returning to his hometown in the early 1990s and forming Stacy Mitchhart and Blues-U-Can-Use, a staple on the local Blues scene for a few years. After a move to Nashville in the mid-’90s, Mitchhart’s musical career really took off. His albums have been widely acclaimed and have done well commercially — his 2011 release, Live from B.B. King’s, debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Blues charts — and he’s received high praise for his showmanship and remarkable vocals.
Also appearing at the Cincy Winter Blues Experience are some of the artists who represented Ohio at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis recently — Westerville, Ohio’s Lil Red & the Rooster and Middletown’s Jimmy D. Rogers, who both made it to the IBC semi-finals.
Rogers is participating in a special tribute to guitar god Eric Clapton at the Winter Blues Experience fest. He’ll be joined by fellow Southwestern Ohio Blues greats Doug Hart and Johnny Fink.
