The Delta College Planetarium in Bay City will begin rocking to the music of U2 on Saturday, March 7 with the premier of the new show production in its Dome360 Theatre. The Delta College Planetarium is located at 100 Center Ave. in downtown Bay City.
“U2” is a 45-minute immersive digital experience featuring the music of the rock supergroup U2 choreographed with 3-dimensional visual art and animation.
“U2 spans numerous generations and moves people in so many ways that we thought it would be the next great experience for Michiganders,” said Mike Murray, Planetarium manager.
The wrap-around environment of the planetarium theater allows for the creation of countless 3-Deffects, giving the music a visual feel. Audiences can experience flights through space, soaring landscapes, spinning tunnels and abstract art; a fun and imaginative journey for the senses.
Additionally, newly installed Laser Phosphor projection technology enhances imagery so that audiences can witness clear, crisp, bright and vibrant colors in the dome like never before.
Featured U2 songs include “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “Pride,” “With or Without You,” “Bullet the Blue Sky,” “The Fly,” “It’s a Beautiful Day,” “Mysterious Ways,” “Elevation” and more.
“U2” will play at 7 p.m. Saturdays from March 7 through April 25.
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children, seniors, college students and military. Because of its intense nature, the show is not recommended for children under 10. Tickets go on sale at the planetarium one hour before show time.
