Collaborative funk project The Loving Hour has announced a performance at Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Other Side on February 27th. Billed as The Soul Sessions, the show marks the continuation of Live For Live Music‘s monthly residency at Cervantes’, The Funk Sessions.
The Loving Hour started as a 7 piece soul/neo-soul and R & B collective composed of some Chicago’s best musicians in 2015. Though the group has scaled back in size since moving out west, its founders, Corey Frye of The Main Squeeze (lead vocals) and Paris Flemming of The Motet (trumpet) continue to create a group deeply rooted in the music they grew up on, soul, neo-soul, jazz, R & B, and hip-hop. The Loving Hour, weaves through the decades and touches on the ups and downs of something we all can relate to… LOVE. Whether it was love at first sight or you’re just falling all over again. Let The Loving Hour groove your soul away.
This incarnation of The Loving Hour’s rotating lineup will also feature Frye on vocals, Rob Walker (The Main Squeeze) on bass, DJ Williams (Karl Denison’s Tiny Universe) on guitar, Isaac Teel (TAUK) on drums, Dan Africano (Ghost Light) on bass, and Nick Gerlach on saxophone. The Loving Hour’s The Soul Sessions performance at Cervantes’ Other Side will see the ensemble play through decades worth of love songs as they weave through the turbulent ups and downs of the human condition.
