The 15th anniversary of the Roswell Jazz Festival is coming in mid-October. To explain the history of the event and to talk about upcoming events, the Roswell Sertoma Club recently hosted Michael Francis and Charles Gordon of the group.

Francis, piano player, and Gordon, trumpeter, promoted a unique event coming to Roswell on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Jazz Festival will be joining the Roswell Symphony Orchestra in Pearson Hall at New Mexico Military Institute to entertain this community with an integration of classical and jazz music.

The Roswell Sertoma Club assists in the purchase of hearing aids and speech therapy to people in need, provides 27 $500 college scholarships each semester and supports various youth activities and other charitable causes. Anyone wishing to join the club is welcome to attend one of its meetings at noon at the Elks Lodge every Friday. One can obtain forms to apply for assistance at the club’s website: www.roswellsertoma.org.
