By TOM D’ANTONI //Lisa Mann and Allen Markel: Marriage is a two-bass hit / VIDEO Coffeeshop Conversations @ Artichoke Music #213. First published September 25, 2019
With our move to Artichoke Music in 2019, we were able to produce video episodes of the podcast. They have proven to be very popular. I have to choose one from the six we have run. That’s a hard job, so here’s one. You find links to others below.
We’ll also have another Best Of 2019 next week…audio-only. — Tom D’Antoni

The second of the new video versions of OMN’s long-running podcast from the Artichoke Cafe in Portland, Oregon. The first four episodes feature couples who are both working musicians. The first was with Kate Power and Steve Einhorn
This episode features two internationally known Blues bass players who are married to each other. Lisa Mann won a national Blues Music Award for Best Bass Player and who is also a singer and songwriter. Her husband Allen Markel is currently in Sugar Ray Rayford’s band which tours the world. They got married on stage at the Waterfront Blues Festival ten years ago.
They perform two songs in this episode, Allen on bass and Lisa singing (and tearing it up). Hosting is OMN Editor-In-Chief Tom D’Antoni Thanks to Artichoke’s Bob Howard for giving us a home, to Gary Furlow for the production design/editing and audio mixing. Presented by Oregon Music News and Artichoke Community Music
