Market Street in The Woodlands Hosts Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Consortium Jazz Festival March 21 – Woodlands Online

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Market Street will showcase local talent with live jazz performances Saturday, March 21 from Noon – 8:00 p.m. as the shopping, dining and entertainment destination hosts the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate Consortium Jazz Festival. The Jazz Festival, which is free and open to the community, is produced by Lone Star Community College and will feature seven local bands and artists.

Guests are invited to visit Market Street’s Central Park to enjoy live jazz music performed by bands with Lone Star Community College-Montgomery, Lone Star Community College-North Harris, Lone Star Community College-Cy Fair as well as Houston Community College.

Guest artists Phillip K. Jones II, scheduled to perform from 2:00 – 3:00 pm, and Kelly Dean, scheduled for 4:00 – 7:00 pm, will be showcasing their musical talents at the Jazz Festival.

Phillip K. Jones II, a native of Clevelend, Ohio, grew up playing at his church and in his school’s gospel choir before attending the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. A multi-instrumentalist, today he lives in Houston and plays the drums, piano, organ and bass.

Dean has long been one of Houston’s most sought-after musicians and in addition to performing with the Kelly Dean Group and Grenade, he currently serves as a Jazz Fundamentals instructor at High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
