Mere hours before launching Aftershock 2019 in Discovery Park, Sacramento, Danny Wimmer Presents dropped a blockbuster announcement that is sure to excite festival and music fans in Northern California: heavy metal band Metallica, one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, will headline five hard rock festivals next year, including the Aftershock music festival in Sacramento Oct. 9, 10 and 11, 2020.

Breaking precedent by announcing a headlining act nine months earlier than normal, the Metallica revelation was met with enthusiasm and anticipation, with tickets already available. Festival passes can be purchased by visiting AftershockFestival.com.

For each ticket sold through Nov. 19 Danny Wimmer Presents will donate 25 cents to Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation. AWMH is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization created by the members and management of Metallica, dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services. One hundred percent of the donations go directly to local organizations that the foundation supports. Visit AllWithinMyHands.org to learn more about the foundation.

Metallica, which has deep roots in the San Francisco Bay Area, played its most recent concert with the San Francisco Symphony at the new Chase Center Arena in San Francisco — christening the new building in the process — on Sept. 6 and 8 before postponing the rest of its scheduled 2019 tour dates while a member of the band deals with personal matters.

“Metallica isn’t just another headliner. When Metallica takes the stage, it’s an event. It’s an experience. That’s the same standard we’ve set for every DWP festival — from the first band to the last band and everything that happens in between. I can’t wait to bring the biggest band in the world to the biggest rock festivals in America,” said Danny Wimmer, founder of Danny Wimmer Presents, the largest independent festival producer in the U.S. “Metallica paved this road that we travel. How many artists on the bill at these five festivals first picked up an instrument or first started a band because of Metallica?”

Besides headlining two separate nights of the three-day festival next year, Metallica aims to make the experience special, vowing to perform two completely different sets each night, which is sure to give Metallica fans who purchased full weekend passes a thrill.

Contest

To further celebrate this historical collaboration, Danny Wimmer Presents invites fans to enter the Golden Ticket contest. One lucky person will win an all-expenses paid trip to any DWP festival of his or her choice to see Metallica play two different nights and two different sets over one incredible weekend. The prize package includes rock star accommodations, exclusive festival access, opportunities to watch the show from the legendary Metallica Snake Pit, meet and greets, amazing memorabilia and more.
