The 11th Annual Kent Blues Fest returns to downtown Kent on Friday, and the festival will offer free live music by more than 30 acts at 26 locations, including restaurants, bars, bookstores and outdoor parks.
Featured performers include the following: blues harp master Wallace Coleman; the Numbers Band, Akron/Kent’s long-running experimental blues rock band; the Zydeco Kings, who mix old school Rhythm & Blues and New Orleans-style music; singer-guitarist extraordinaire Ray Flanagan; the Eric Clapton tribute Evolution; and the Kent blues band Outside Voices.
“We are thrilled to be marking the 11th anniversary of this event, thanks to the support of the Kent and Northeast Ohio community, and the city,” says Mike Beder of the Crooked River Arts Council, which produces the festival, in a press release. “The Kent Blues Fest is our flagship event, and it’s the biggest music festival held here. And, as always, it’s all free, thank to our generous sponsors.”
