Last Friday, students from the Music Academy of Garden City performed on Seventh Street during the “Christmas in July” Promenade.
As part of Rock Bands Day Camp, these talented kids spent a week practicing in their own rock bands led by Music Academy instructors Pete Coco and Benny Reid. The camp culminated in a performance on Seventh Street to the delight of family and friends.
The bands played everything from Post Malone to The Beatles, and sounded like seasoned professionals with vocal harmonies, guitar and piano solos, drum breaks, and more. In keeping with the Promenade theme, they even performed some Christmas songs.
The large audience was very receptive and enjoyed the concert. Many of these students will continue in rock bands, ensembles, musical theatre classes, and lessons this fall at the Music Academy. The Music Academy is a proud sponsor of the Friday Night Promenades and would like to thank John Wilton and the Garden City Chamber of Commerce for their continued support.
