Niles Rodgers and his legendary disco band Chic, as well as Afrobeat star Femi Kuti, will play the 2020 TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, the event announced Wednesday in an email.
The festival, which will run from June 19 to July 1 next year and mark its 40th anniversary edition, did not give dates or venues for those two bookings. But both have the star power of a festival main-stage act, and the fest recently announced that its main stage would return in 2020 to Confederation Park after a two-year hiatus.
The festival also announced concerts by guitarist Bill Frisell, trumpeter Tom Harrell’s Infinity group, high-energy piano virtuoso Hiromi, hip hop-jazz group Ghost Note and British-Barbadian saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings and his Ancestors group, an earthy, groovy, Afrofuturistic project.
Passes for next summer’s festival, as well as for next month’s TD Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival, are available at ottawajazzfestival.com.
