About 200 people took part in the first annual Brooks Jazz Festival.
The four day event saw local and Calgary jazz musicians perform in intimate venue settings in the city and the county.
“We had great response from people,” said festival co-chair Nova Sekhon.
She, along with Megan Soldan, organized the event.
“I would say it was a success,” she said.
The co-chairs are measuring the success not only by the attendance, which saw two of the four venues sold out, but others approached them to either take over organization or are willing to help.
“We might start a committee with people because there has been a couple of others who approached us saying they would like to sit on a committee,” said Sekhon.
Bringing the event back next year would see the festival run on the same formula as this year with a few bands playing at intimate settings while keeping the October time line.
“I like the different locations and people said they got to go to locations they had never been to. There were a few people who said they had never been to Rosemary,” she said.
Three other venues were in Brooks including two at bars and one in a coffee shop.
