Don’t say we didn’t warn you: This may be the last free weekend concert on Max Morden’s front lawn. He’s got some video recording projects that need to get done in October and after that there’s the likelihood of a New Jersey winter.
But if this is the end, Morden is setting it up to be big. Three saxophones, two trumpets, one trombone, a guitar, a piano, an upright bass, and drums playing the music of some of the biggest names in jazz.
“Musicians for this one have performed all over the globe,” says Morden, “with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Diana Ross, Johnny Mathis, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Broadway, Patti Austin, Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, and venues like The Blue Note, Village Vanguard, and Jazz at Lincoln Center.”
It all starts at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, and Morden’s front lawn is on Brookside Terrace, just off Linden.
