Groove and move with the swinging tunes of the six-piece accompaniment, Grand Marquis.

Grand Marquis twists styles Prohibition Era jazz, blues, and American roots, influenced by the musical traditions of Kansas City, Memphis, and New Orleans.

“Grand Marquis is an exciting band that plays exciting music,” said Trevor Trula, who plays trombone and provides backing vocals for the band. “You will feel the urge to move and you will be moved by the content of our music. Powerful horns accompanied by a deep groove rhythm section brings joy to our audiences across the country.”

Grand Marquis will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at minicine?, located at 846 Texas Ave. in downtown Shreveport.

Grand Marquis, hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, features members Ben Ruth (upright bass/sousaphone/backing vocals), Chad Boydston (trumpet/backing vocals), Ryan Wurtz (electric and acoustic guitars), Trevor Turla (trombone/backing vocals), Natalie Bates (drums), and Bryan Redmond (lead vocals/soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones).

In 1998, Grand Marquis hit their hometown music scene and has continued to spread their music by performing for audiences across the country for more than 20 years.

In that time the group has released eight albums, including the latest, “Brighter Days.”

A few must-hear tracks from the album are “Another Lover,” “Night Shift,” and the title track. Also, check out the newly released recordings of “Never Be Satisfied” and “Can’t Put You Down,” originally performed by a Kansas City legend whose music career and life were cut short, Tony Ashley.

Grand Marquis has racked up several awards, including being named the 2006 and 2007 Best Jazz Band and the 2011 Best Blues Band by “The Pitch” newspaper in Kansas City. The group was also recognized by The X Entertainment Magazine and made it to the final rounds of the 2011 and 2013 International Blues Challenge.
