The death of legendary singer
SP Balasubrahmanyam has come as a shock to many, especially those he knew personally and was associated closely with in the
film industry. One such person is
Superstar Rajinikanth, who SPB was synonymous with as he had sing most of the actor’s songs, especially his most loved hits.
Rajinikanth took to his social media to express his sadness and shared a message. This is what he said:
Today is a sad day. Despite fighting till the last minute, respected SPB has left us. His departure has pained and shocked us. There is noone in India who is not a fan of SPB’s songs and voice. People who knew him loved him for his humanity more than his songs and voice. He respected and was kind to people irrespective of whether they were young or old – he was than sort of a kind, affectionate man. The Indian cinema industry has created several great singers – Mohamad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, etc – but SPB had something special that the others did not have – the others sang only in their particular language, but SPB sang in several languages. So people from everywhere in India know him, and especially in South India there is noone who is not a fan. His voice will ring in our ears for another 100 years, but it is very saddening to think that the owner of that voice is no longer with us. A great singer and a great soul, he should rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family.
