The Highland Jazz and Blues Festival will present two stages of all-star acts at the all-day neighborhood music showcase.
The Highland Jazz and Blues Festival is Sept. 14 at Columbia Park in Shreveport.
The festival debuted 16 years ago to celebrate the art, culture and neighbors of the historic Highland arts district, as well as showcase regional and national musicians.
The 2019 headliner will be Big Sam’s Funky Nation — a six-piece New Orleans funk, jazz, rock and hip-hop band.
Margie Perez will be the co-headliner. The singer-songwriter blends the flavors of New Orleans with the blues, pop and Latin music styles.
Local performers will be Buddy Flett, Ouro Boar, Jimmy Wooten, Logan & The Legendaries, Shreveport Second Line Brass Band, MAX DAB, and The Brothers Band.
The festival committee also announced the premiere of the official HJBF playlist, available on Spotify. The playlist features songs from past and present festivals, including Marc Broussard, Rebirth Brass Band, and Flow Tribe, and Shreveport’s own Seratones, Dirtfoot, and Jimmy Wooten.
HJBF is a free, pet and family-friendly event. Live music, food, and art vendors and activities will be on site.
