SUU’s music department will present its fifth annual SUU Rock Concert, featuring Red Rockers and choirs, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City.

The SUU Choirs and Red Rockers have been hard at work preparing for this concert. It will feature new arrangements created just for this show including The Jackson 5 versus The Osmonds. Those two family bands thrived during that era of smooth music.

“This rock concert is going to be a blast, said Heather Celis, a vocal student at SUU. “We’re playing lots of mellow ‘70s favorites that people will love to sing along with. It’s been so much fun working with the band on our second concert and we can’t wait to perform for everyone!”

“I love being in Red Rockers because it gives me an opportunity to perform commercial music as often as I perform classical music,” said Michael D’Orazio, a music education major. “I’m looking forward to the rock concert with the choir for a few reasons, the first being that it’s full of great music from the ‘70s. Being a part of the music department and the choirs gives me an awesome chance to see the classical and commercial worlds come together. This rock concert will be a lot of fun for the audience. All of the songs are fun and will bring about a sense of nostalgia.”

Tickets for the concert are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Southern Utah University faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at suu.edu/pva.
