An Evening of Great Jazz

Red, White and Blues Week featuring the Pensacola Beach Air Show

8 a.m. Wednesday, 2 p.m. Thursday, noon Friday and noon Saturday, July 10 through 13. Pensacola Beach. Locals and visitors from all over look forward to the annual Pensacola Beach Air Show held in the summer. The show highlights the Blue Angels — the U. S. Navy’s flight demonstration squadron stationed at Forrest Sherman Field aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola. The Blue Angels hold several practice sessions along the beach in the days leading up to the big event on show day. More info: 850-932-2257.

Blues Angel School of Music – Rock Recital

6 p.m. Thursday, July 11. Vinyl Music Hall, 2 S. Palafox St. Blues Angel School of Music presents their annual Rock Recital. Come hear 14 student bands led by music instructors and BAM staff performing a variety of your favorite tunes with a special performance by Pensacola’s own Classic June. 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11. Sand Crab Pavilion, Navarre Beach Park. The series will showcase a variety of local musicians with the Gulf of Mexico and sunset as the backdrop. Set it Off

6 p.m. Friday, July 12. Vinyl Music Hall, 2 S. Palafox St. Set it Off, a Los Angeles-based band comprised of Cody Carson (vocals), Dan Clermont (guitar), Zach DeWall (guitar) and Maxx Danziger (drums), will perform live in concert. The band has become known for creating their own original brand of pop music, infusing bold electronic elements that guide loud, driving rock instrumentations with guitar riffs as catchy as the choruses and an overall feel-good, dance-worthy vibe. Michael Jackson: A Thrilling Tribute

Florida’s Flora: Nature Tour of Arcadia Mill

10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13. Arcadia Mill Archaeological Site, 5709 Mill Pond Lane, Milton. Guests of all ages will learn about how native plants were used in the past on the Florida’s Flora tour. This ticketed tour lasts approximately 45 minutes to an hour and takes place along the boardwalk and nature trails. Trail appropriate attire, bug spray, and sunscreen are recommended. 2019 Pensacola Beach Air Show

Noon Saturday, July 13. Gulfside Pavilion at Casino Beach, 20 Casino Beach Blvd., Pensacola Beach. This must-see event features the world-famous Blue Angels performing over Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island. Civilian acts begin at noon with the Blues flying at 2 p.m. Don’t forget the sunscreen and $1 for the toll bridge. At the conclusion of the air show, trolley riders will want to be on the first set of buses and trolleys leaving Casino Beach, otherwise expect a long wait for trolleys to return. Chris Thomas King – King of Nola Blues

7 p.m. Saturday, July 13. Vinyl Music Hall, 2 S. Palafox St. Chris Thomas King, a blues musician and actor, is the son of blues musician Tabby Thomas. In the 2000 movie “O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?,” he played legendary bluesman Tommy Johnson. On the “O Brother…” soundtrack he plays Skip James’ “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues.” In the 2004 movie Ray, he played bandleader Lowell Fulson. He has also appeared in several documentaries about the blues and about music. He has won awards including Album of the Year for both Grammy Award and Country Music Awards. Vive la France: A Wine and Food Event

5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 14. Jackson’s Steakhouse, 400 S. Palafox St. For the 10th year, Jackson’s Steakhouse is presenting the wine and food tasting, “Vive la France.” Bastille Day is the French national holiday, la Fête du 14 juillet. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, an act that led to the conclusion of the French Revolution and the beginning of French independence. With Bastille Day serving as the inspiration for the tasting, Jean Pierre N’Dione has hand selected four French wines to complement a selection of classic French dishes as prepared by Chef Irv Miller.
