An award-winning soul music celebration is coming to Hunstanton – and two pairs of lucky Citizen readers could be there free of charge!
The Soul Family Affair (SFA) – a runner-up in the prestigious 2019 Soul Survivors awards – takes place over the weekend of February 28-March 1 at the Searles five-star leisure resort.
It’s the brainchild of Fenland’s Jamie Trundle and the weekend will be hosted by Mark Purdy, of King’s Lynn, along with Essex DJ legend Ian Reading.
The weekend will feature memories by the bucket-load with music from the heyday of clubbing in the 80s and 90s, along with generous helpings of today’s big club hits and dance floor fillers.
SFA attracts hundreds of people and this year’s special guests are Phil Fearon from Galaxy – one of the biggest disco acts from the 80s responsible for many dance floor favourites – plus ground-breaking radio and club DJ legend Greg Edwards.
Greg has helped to bring a new sound and approach to broadcasting, originally on Capital Radio, later BBC Radio One and now Mi-Soul Radio, and was instrumental in bringing soul music to the UK on a large scale.
Phil’s first chart success came with the Top 5 hit “Dancing Tight” in 1983 and over the next 15 months he chalked up a further four UK Top 40 singles, including the Top 10s “What Do I Do” and “Everybody’s Laughing”. His last appearance in the UK Top 10 was with a cover version of Tony Etoria’s “I Can Prove It” in 1986.
A selection of the UK’s finest DJs will be on hand to support Phil and Greg.
To book on site accommodation packages please call Searles directly on 01485 534211.
